North Carolina has many beautiful beaches. Many of these spots have become popular tourist traps. If you are looking for a little peace and quiet, there are a few beaches for you. Here are some hidden gems on the shores of North Carolina.

Emerald Isle Beach, North Carolina

Emerald Isle was once a small fishing community. It quickly grew into a bustling town with gourmet restaurants and boutique shops. The downtown areas are usually bustling, but many of the beaches are empty. Local sea turtles do make the beaches their nesting areas in the spring. The Bogue Island Fishing Pier makes one of the best spots for saltwater fishing.

Hammocks Beach State Park, Swansboro, NC

Bear Island is a three-mile barrier island. The area has plenty of dunes for you to explore. In order to reach the island, you will have to take a ferry or bring your own mode of transportation. Birds and sea turtles can be seen from the water. This area has the most miles of unspoiled beaches in the state. Many people head out here to explore the dunes or start an adventure. The park does have indoor showers, a bathhouse, and restroom facilities.

Nag’s Head Beach, NC

Nag’s Head is located in the Outer Banks region. This area is well-known for its entertainment, hotels, and food. This beach is pet-friendly and ATV friendly as well. Nag’s Head holds many festivals and events throughout the year. This beachfront spot is a perfect place for a family vacation or weekend getaway.

Avon Beach, NC

Avon is the center of the Hatteras area. The area is a popular spot for families and couples. Avon’s beaches are clean and quiet. The beaches are so secluded that you may need to take a vehicle to head out there. The shores are unspoiled and a perfect spot for shelling. Avon has many restaurants and shops to explore when you head back into town.
