The Virginia Association of Speech, Debate, and Drama Coaches

VASDDC began in the summer of 1991 at one of the Longwood College Forensic Institutes. Joe Wycoff, Bob Kelly and Pam Cady Wycoff talked about the forensic organizations in their states thus sparking the idea. Nancy Haga from Longwood helped us and Mary Sue Crommelin provided a great deal of the groundwork. The charter members met several times at Cindy Bomboske's house in Chesterfield County to draw up the constitution. We started out as VASC (for speech only). A few years later we became VASDC to include debate. It wasn't until two years ago that drama was added, making us VASDDC.

According to our constitution, "The purpose of this organization is to bring together speech and debate coaches and those with an interest in speech activities for the promotion of competitive speech, debate, and drama as an educational activity in Virginia high schools."

VASDDC is supported by the Virginia High School League, the Virginia Forensics League, and the National Forensics League, Virginia District.
